Royal Grammas are carnivores, feeding on tiny zooplankton and small crustaceans. They’re known for being peaceful and easygoing, often coexisting well with other reef fish. When threatened, they’ll do a quick retreat into a nearby crevice rather than put up a fight. In their natural environment, they help control populations of microscopic critters and keep the reef’s food web in balance. In aquariums and at the zoo, they’re a favorite for both kids and adults thanks to their jaw-dropping colors and bashful, peek-a-boo behavior.
